Interesting Fact!
In 1994, to celebrate their Centennial (100-year) anniversary, Gibson altered their serial number system for most electric models. Instead of using the standard 8-digit numbering format (where the first and fifth digits indicate the year), the majority of 1994 electric models utilized a specific system:
Format: 94RRRRRR (8 digits)
The Year: The serial number will always begin with "94" to denote the 1994 anniversary.
The Production Rank: The remaining 6 digits (RRRRRR) represent the sequential production ranking of the instrument across that entire calendar year.
